Underneath, We Are One
Underneath, We Are One
This latest addition to my Geometry Experiments series explores the dialogue between two opposites living within the same frame.
The profile on the left relies strictly on polygons—you won’t find a single curved line in its construction. Its counterpart on the right is composed entirely of curves and sections of circles; not a single straight line was used.
While their "skins" are diametrically opposed, they share the exact same skeletal framework. I began with the figure on the left, using polygons to define the features. I then mirrored that design, kept all the major features in place, and expressed the design with curves rather than straight lines.
By maintaining the underlying form but switching the geometric language, I wanted to highlight a singular truth: Underneath the surface—the sharp angles we present or the fluid curves we follow—we come from the same origin.
Underneath, We Are One.
Note: To see the art in its most static form, reference the first photo, which was shot to minimize environmental interference. The rest of the gallery explores the work’s ‘living surface’—the same piece, the same light, but different angles. Paired with the video, these views give you a true sense of how the sculpture lives and breathes within a room, shifting as you move around it.
