GEOMETRY EXPERIMENTS
Structured Intent
With roots in traditional Cubism, the Geometry Experiments series focuses on the power of the grid. Every sculpture is built upon a geometric layout, where the design is in constant dialogue with its underlying mathematical structure. In some areas, the geometry is boldly visible in the cut lines; in others, it is the silent force guiding the placement of the work’s major features.
These pieces serve as a laboratory for my practice, where I experiment with unpredictable torch-coloring on reflective platters, color-shifting paints, and complex tiling patterns, such as the non-repeating "Einstein tile."
The result is a commentary on our automaton-like digital existence, using the very detritus of that life to build something structured and enduring. Here, digital obsolescence is reclaimed and reformatted into a language of modern, intentional beauty.
A Living Surface
My sculptures' reflective surfaces are designed to be in dialogue with their environment, creating a shifting kaleidoscope of imagery that makes the viewer an active participant.
Lighting the work sends its reflection onto adjoining walls, making the sculpture’s presence known throughout the room.
While the art is alive with energy, it also rewards closer inspection of its intricate, hand-cut details. Online, I use video to capture this dynamic quality, while "scrim" shots with minimized reflections offer the clearest view of the craftsmanship.
